Fresh Fork Market was born in August 2007 at the Cleveland Entrepreneurship Immersion Week, Business Concept Competition. At this competition, Matthew Szugye, Kyle Napierkowski, Bob Gavlak, Aaron Shaffer and Trevor Clatterbuck came together out of Case Western Reserve University to develop a business idea that would evolve into the frame work for Fresh Fork Market. The concept grew out of discussions Matt had with local restaurant owners and experiences Trevor had while dining. They discovered that restaurants wanted to serve local foods, but current distribution channels were making it difficult or impossible to do so.
After winning the Entrepreneurship Immersion Week Competition with the Fresh Fork plan, the team set out to make their project a reality and fill the void in the food market by creating a consistent, convenient manner for restaurants to order local products.
The Fresh Fork Market launch party was Sunday, June 22nd at the Wolstein Building on the Case Western Reserve University campus.
Since then, over 20 restaurants and over 50 suppliers have joined Fresh Fork.
