Winter Share 2011/12 – Week 1

For the first week of the winter CSA package we have have truly a showcase product – a beautiful, well marbled Berkshire Boston Butt Roast (bone-in, shoulder roast).  This tasty roast is between 5 and 6 lbs and great for shredded pork, a crock pot meal, to use in the smoker, or even to make sausage.  You’ll be eating off of this for a week!

This week we are also very lucky to have some nice produce yet.  We’ll have large heads of cauliflower, cylindra beets with tops, and the last of the season’s cherry tomatoes.  We will also have one of my favorites and a product that will be a staple over the winter, a tasty baby greens mixture that is the perfect hearty, winter salad.

Rounding out this week’s package will be one of the fan favorite items, pizza dough and fresh mozzarella.  Blue Jacket, the creamery that makes the mozz, only makes it during the summer and early fall.  I had to twist her arm to make it for me this week so this will be the last of that cheese for a while.

Here’s this week’s bag contents:
